 Reflection:

109- The whole idea of loving a person completely just from touching feet together is entirely ridiculous and far-fetched. I’m guessing someone with an unsavory obsession with feet came up with this idea simply to reduce suspicion. I for one would not randomly touch feet with another person and I seriously doubt that rational people would participate in such a random and ridiculous notion. Touching the soles of my feet with another person would not make me love that person more and it would especially not make me love the Earth. I see absolutely no connection between the two acts.

Might there be some symbolism here? Or is it more sarcasm? Thoughts?

Other reflections beyond the religious rites of Bokononism?

That was mostly sarcasm, yes. Going back to one of the quotes, "Anything can make me stop and look and wonder, and sometimes learn," I completely agree. Like our discussion in English on Thursday, we discussed how Ethan Frome is simply a piece of literature and nothing more, but because of the discussions that we are able to generate from it, it becomes more real. Anything in life, whether it is something huge, like a friend dying, or buying a new toothbrush, will change a person's life in some way, even if it is barely recognizable. And anything we encounter in life can have a major inmpact whether we recognize it now, later, or never. Yesterday i was standing by a window, looking outside, and i had this overwhelming feeling of happiness. Nothing was happening to me, i wasn't eating anything, i didn't get anything, but i was perfectly at peace. In that seemingly inconsequential moment, i felt more at peace then i have in a long time. I believe that it is these small moments that make life worth living, and it is these small moments that we cannot take for granted. It's all about seizing the day- Carpe Diem.
