The River
By: Gary Paulsen
I read the book The River by Gary Paulsen. The main character was a teenager named Brian. The books setting was mainly in the Canadian wilderness and in a river with several rapids. The River is a sequel to the book, hatchet. In this book a psychology teacher named Derek goes to Brian's house asking him to go back and do his trip all over again, so Dereck can take notes on his journey. This story reveals their adventure together. Derek was struck by lightening and Brian had to figure out how to get Derek, who was in a coma, down the river to safety. Brian built a sweet A raft and tries to get Derek to a trading post roughly 100 miles down the river. Brian is very brave and courageous in this story. Brian knew everything he needed to know to survive in the wilderness, but Derreck didn't so Brian had to teach him. I enjoyed this book because it was very short and fun to read. I would recommend this book to someone who likes adventure stories. Gary Paulsen's books are exciting to read, and are fun to read if you like reading about the outdoors and survival stories.

I had a hard time following the quotes personally. My simple brain is not following the complicated set up. Or I'm thinking about it too hard.

Your quotation layout fits the book. Truth comes to us in fragmented forms. He/she lights the light who illuminates the patterns.

Took me a bit to figure out how the organization of the quotes worked. Once I got it I liked it! Very interesting.

Yes, Blake. Tell US about the book. WE want to know. Where is the light bulb? What does it mean?

Words became a part of you! It's like you ate the books and they turned into glycogen and adenosine tri-phosphate, fueling your muscles for action and your minds for reflection and contemplation.

Speaking of words, where are your quotations and reflections? _The Dharma Bums_ is pure poetry. Put some of those lyrics on here. Maybe something about Japhy Ryder.

On a serious note, people often read this book to armchair mountaineer about all the mistakes the various leaders and climbers made. What's to celebrate in this story? What's to celebrate in the long-term lessons and wisdom that emerge slowly out of the tragedy now, over ten years later?

I enjoyed the fact that you, Colton and Kevin all got together and worked on a quote page. The quotes you chose to discuss are amazing once you look past the words. As for your overall Wiki there isnt much to it lol. All Though the cover of the book INTO THIN AIR is extremly eye catching.
